Ocean training partnership
The Ocean Training Partnership (OTP) is an international alliance of marine science organisations that coordinates shipboard training experiences, which aims is to develop a collaborative, sustainable approach to train competent marine science graduates and equip them with the technical skills and practical experience necessary to work across multiple oceanographic disciplines in challenging environments.
Improving our knowledge of the ocean requires a new generation of well-trained marine scientists who are able to combine practical field work at sea with modern multi-and cross-disciplinary research methods and new technology for ocean and atmospheric observations there are relatively few opportunities for shipboard training available to young scientists. The objective of the Ocean Training Partnership is to pool infrastruture, resources and expertise to provide marine science graduates with offshore technical skills and experience onboard research vessels whilst building capacity in ocean observations.
OTP provides grants to support training cruises, and fellowships for early-career scientists in developing countries, also providing training material. Below you can have access to to most relevant resources.
